Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Troop 818 family + leader site (troop818md.org). They're written for the families and leaders who actually use the site — plain English where we can manage it, legal precision where we can't.
1. What this is
This site is a tool for managing a scout troop — events, RSVPs, advancement, family contact info, and invoicing handoff. It is not a payment processor. When the troop opts into QuickBooks-based invoicing, payments are handled by Intuit; we never see, store, or move money.
This site is operated by Momojilabs in support of Troop 818. It is not affiliated with Scouting America (BSA) directly. Scouting America's official records (registration, advancement of record) live in Scoutbook / Internet Advancement, not here.
2. Acceptable use
Use the site for actual troop management — RSVPs, advancement, treasury work, communication. Don't use it for anything else. In particular, you agree not to:
- Scrape or bulk-download the site's data with automated tools.
- Attempt to access another family's records, or any record you don't have permission to see.
- Submit false or misleading RSVPs.
- Probe the site for vulnerabilities without prior written permission. If you find something, please email us instead.
- Use the site to send harassing, threatening, or otherwise inappropriate messages to other users.
- Share content that violates Scouting America's Youth Protection guidelines.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account: keep your password private, don't share it, and report a compromised account immediately. One account per person — please don't share a login between adults in the same family; each adult gets their own account so the audit log is meaningful.
If your account is compromised, email a leader and we'll reset it and audit recent activity together.
4. Content ownership
Operational troop data — event schedules, the troop calendar, advancement and treasury records — is owned by the troop (and by Momojilabs as operator) for purposes of running the troop. Your personal information belongs to you and is handled under our Privacy Policy.
If you contribute content (notes on an RSVP, a message to another user), you grant the troop a non-exclusive license to store and display that content for the purpose of running the troop. You can request removal of your own contributed content at any time via Settings → Privacy & Data.
5. No warranty
The site is provided as-is. We make reasonable efforts to keep it available, accurate, and backed up — but we don't promise uninterrupted service, and we aren't liable for downtime, data loss, or errors in the records. Family financial obligations are determined by the troop's books, not by what this site happens to display at any moment.
6. Termination
We may suspend or remove an account that violates these terms — for example, an account being used to probe other families' data. We'll usually try to give notice first.
You can self-deactivate by requesting deletion through Settings → Privacy & Data. A leader confirms and we redact per the Privacy Policy retention rules.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. If we make material changes, we'll bump the version at the top of this page and notify families with active accounts. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA. Any dispute under these terms is subject to the courts of Maryland.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms: email hello@troop818md.org (placeholder — Marin to confirm).
